Whittier Alaska
Whittier Alaska offers Alaska's a premium location for beginning their outdoor adventures. With a first class boat launch, plenty of parking and a number of camping areas close by, Whittier has grown into a popular base camp for halibut and salmon fishing trips, shrimping and kayaking adventures in Prince William Sound.
Soma balk at the fact that there is a charge for driving through the tunnel between Whittier and Portage or about the increase in the fee or the times when the tunnel is open. But it was not that long ago when the only way between the Seward Highway and Whittier was to load up on a train or take a ferry from somewhere like Valdez.
Whittier Cruise Ship Terminal

The cruise ship terminal in Whittier is used as a northern terminus for Alaskan cruises between Vancouver B.C. and Alaska. Many of the passengers arriving in Whittier are heading for an extended land and sea Alaskan tour via the Alaska Railroad or on one of the many motorcoaches operated by Princess Cruises in Alaska.

While in Whittier a lot of these visitors also take in some of the amazing halibut and salmon fishing offered from within Whittier's active small boat harbor. There are also whale watching tours that include visits to the many glaciers in the local area.
