Matanuska Glacier Park Resort Information
- Directions - Located two hours to the north east of the city of Anchorage Alaska and reached
by way of the Glenn Highway at mile 102. Just past milepost 102 you will turn right at sign
for Glacier Park Resort. Continue down the steep grade and cross the Matanuska River. Continue
until you reach the parking area at Glacier Park Resort. After checking in and paying the
fees at the resort, you can continue on across the valley until you reach the parking area
near the glacier's end moraine.
- Description - Visitors looking to experience a glacier up-close and personal need to stop
by Matanuska Glacier Park at milepost 102 of the Glenn Highway near Palmer. Matanuska Glacier
Park is privately owned and remains the only access point to Matanuska Glacier. There is a
small entrance fee that allows visitors to drive up to
and park next to the Matanuska Glacier. Many visitors will continue on foot from the parking
lot to the glacier some 15 minutes up the trail. Here you can explore the glacier on your
own or with the help of a glacier guide who will have all of the appropriate gear to get to
some of Matanuska Glaciers most remarkable sites.
