Camping at Kenai Walmart in Kenai Alaska
Every since Walmart opened in Kenai, AK their parking lot has served as an overflow camping area for RVers especially during the busy summer dipnetting season.
NOTE: Walmart offers dry camping so there won't be any hookups for electricity, water or septic while you're there. Not to worry, everything you need is available just a few blocks away. The Holiday Gas Station on the corner of the Kenai Spur and Bridge Access Roads has propane, water and a septic dump station too.
In Alaska, most of the Walmart Stores allow for overnight camping to some degree. Kenai is one of them and is a very needed option in the months of June and July. Walmart locations allowing overnight RV parking also see a huge increase in sales as those staying there do a lot of their shopping in their stores. Kenai Walmart is also a Super Walmart with a well stocked grocery store, a camping supply (the only one in Kenai), as well as sporting good, fishing gear, fishing licenses and all that necessary canning and vacuum sealing equipment too.
